Before embarking on a homeschooling journey, it is important to consider whether it is the best option for your child. Below are some of the reasons why homeschooling may be a good fit for your family:

  • Children can study at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.
  • Children can continue their schooling at home in a clean, safe, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Children can follow a flexible study schedule*.
  • Children can spend more time on difficult subjects.

*Please note that learners in Grades 10 to 12 need to follow a strict test and examination timetable.

Our learning model

At Impaq, we follow a distance education learning model. Our lesson material has been specifically designed to enable individualised learning, which means that learners can study at their own pace. We follow the same CAPS-aligned curriculum that most public schools in the country follow. Impaq registers Grade 10 to 12 learners with the assessment body, SACAI, so learners can obtain the National Senior Certificate (NSC) at the end of Grade 12.

 

Know your rights

Home education is a legally recognised alternative to formal education in South Africa. It was legalised in 1996, and Section 51 of the South African Schools Act states that parents have the option to register their child with the Head of Department of a Provincial Education Department should they wish to educate their child at home.
