Assessments and learning material

We provide all the textbooks and lesson material your child needs to complete their academic year. Impaq’s world-class education specialists specially develop our lesson material to ensure learning is fun, exciting, and engaging. Plus, our books are designed to enable individualised learning, which allows learners to study at their own pace, anytime, anywhere. You can also choose between printed or e-books in either English or Afrikaans.

Did you know that our books are CAPS-aligned? Impaq’s lesson material and assessments are aligned with the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), the same curriculum followed by public schools in South Africa. This means that at the end of Grade 12, your child will receive a National Senior Certificate – just like if they had been attending a public school. Impaq facilitates the process for you and registers all Grade 10 to 12 Impaq learners with the examination board, SACAI.

Not only do we provide textbooks for our learners, but as a homeschool parent, you will also receive your very own facilitator’s guides to help you teach your child at home. These detailed guides accompany the lesson material and show you how to teach a specific subject. Impaq’s facilitator’s guides also include suggested (flexible) day-to-day planning.

Tech-savvy guidance and support

By choosing Impaq as your curriculum provider, you can rest assured that we will support you throughout your learning journey. Impaq-registered learners have access to the Optimi Learning Portal (OLP). Here, you will be able to do the following:

  • View your calendar and study plan per subject
  • See your weekly planning at a glance
  • Make use of additional resources and suggested lesson plans
  • Monitor your learner’s progress
  • Easily keep track of which activities are due when with suggested due dates
  • Download assessments and memorandums
  • Capture marks

Want to learn more? Take a quick tour of OLP here.

On OLP, learners can easily access both live and pre-recorded subject guidance sessions, which focus on providing guidance on how to complete specific assessments, revision for more difficult concepts, as well as enrichment lessons.

We also host regular virtual webinars for our parents, offering you the perfect platform to ask any questions you may have on homeschooling topics, such as:

  • how to help your little one develop a love for reading
  • how to help your Grade R to 3 learner understand the basics of Maths
  • how to navigate learning difficulties and facilitate assessments with accommodations and/or concessions

You don’t need to be registered with Impaq to attend, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming webinars.

Spoiled for choice

One of the many benefits of home education is that parents and learners have more choice when selecting their subjects. Impaq learners have access to more subjects than those typically offered in schools.

Grade R – 9 learners can take Bible Education as a supplementary subject, where the inspiring and creative curriculum guides learners on their spiritual journey. As of 2023, learners can also add a new language to their repertoire and take isiZulu as a First Additional Language from Grades 1 – 12!

Grade 10 – 12 learners are spoiled for choice with Impaq and can choose three elective subjects from the list below:

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Agricultural Management Practices
  • Computer Applications Technology
  • Dramatic Arts (only available in English)
  • Engineering Graphics and Design
